Why Atlas asks for Google Drive

Students keep their lecture slides in Google Drive, so Atlas can read a PDF straight from there instead of making you download it and upload it again. Connecting Drive is entirely optional — the same feature works by uploading a file from your computer.

When you do connect it, Atlas requests only the drive.file scope. That gives it access to individual files you pick yourself in Google’s own file picker, and nothing else: it cannot browse, search or list the rest of your Drive. A file you pick is read once to write your flashcards and then discarded, never copied into Atlas.

You can disconnect at any time from Settings. The privacy policy sets out the detail.
